The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was a game i was eagerly waiting for and when it was finally released, it easily exceeded my expectations. The gorgeous scenery, moody atmosphere and haunting soundtrack quickly pulled me deep into the world of Red Creek Valley. Add in the mysterious and evocative story, and i couldn't help but be completely mesmerized. I liked it so much that after a few hours of playing, i took a quick break to gift a few copies to a couple of friends who i knew would appreciate it like i did. For such a small indie studio, The Astronauts really did some magic and made a game with the production value of a AAA studio (Poland has been knocking it out of the park with all these great game developers! Speaking of that, shout-out to the awesome guys over at Bloober Team!). I believe it was one of the earlier titles to use photogrammetry, and boy did they put it to good use. The visuals in this are an absolute delight and made screenshotting it really fun (yet also difficult at the same time. what do you take a shot of when every single thing looks amazing?)! I have no doubt their upcoming game, Witchfire will be another fantastic experience.
